Be Kind
The richest lady I met
With not much, she gave
How could her wealth be meagre
When her heart was an ocean
Many poor people did I meet
With a lot, they did not give
How could their wealth be plenty
When their wants were an ocean
Many I passed did not see
The hunger in my belly
How could they understand
They had never seen real need
Many I passed did see
The hunger in my belly
They had nothing to give
So they gave a kind word and a smile
I remind myself today
No matter what I have or not
I won’t forget
That kindness is all you need
Oh man, seeking glory
Do not scorn the meek
For what use is your fame
If you cannot be kind
Oh man, seeking riches
Do not shun the poor
For what use is your affluence
If you cannot be kind
Oh man, seeking salvation
Do not spurn the vile
For what use is your peace?
If you cannot be kind
